What is the 2Qua project?

How can we protect the water quality of our reservoirs?

In this episode, we follow the *2QUA* project, an investigation developed by the University of Porto, in partnership with the University of Minho, which seeks to understand the environmental challenges of the Alto Rabagão and Aguieira reservoirs.

Through the testimonies of researchers Sara Antunes and Bruno Castro, we discovered how zooplankton can function as an indicator of water quality, what the impacts of microplastics are on aquatic ecosystems, and how agriculture, industry, human activities, and climate change contribute to their degradation.

We also explored the potential of remote sensing technologies and satellite data to monitor these ecosystems and improve their conservation.

An adventure in the Aguieira Reservoir

Discover how water quality is studied and monitored through an interactive multimedia experience. Explore the different stages of scientific work, from collecting samples in the reservoir to laboratory analysis, using real photographs, interactive elements, and 360º videos.

Throughout the experiment, he learns about zooplankton, microplastics, and other important indicators for understanding the health of this ecosystem.

Explore, learn, and discover how you too can contribute to the conservation of the Aguieira Reservoir.
